Red Card in Minute 34, Indonesia Hold Malaysia 0-0 in Jakarta

Indonesia held Malaysia to a goalless draw at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Monday night, 28 September. The Garuda squad played the final 66 minutes with ten men after Thom Haye was shown a straight red card in the 34th minute. One point was salvaged from the night, and the race for second place in Group A is now decided on 1 October.

No goal came before the final whistle. Malaysia fashioned a dangerous counterattack but could not finish it, and their newly naturalised striker is yet to find the net.

What the result actually means

Indonesia have not won, but neither have they lost in a fixture that usually goes one way. The plain fact is this: they held out for 66 minutes with ten men and still took a point.
