Image Editor — Complete Guide
This page collects the guides for 14 tools in one place. Pick a tool name from the list and its guide opens beside it, so there is no page to navigate to and no account to create.
Resize Image
Resize an image to custom dimensions in your browser. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose an image from your device.
- Type the target width and height in pixels.
- Run the resize and download the PNG.
Use cases
- Meeting an exact dimension requirement for an upload form.
- Shrinking a photo before attaching it to an email or support ticket.
- Producing a predictable pixel size for a layout that requires one.
Limitation — Resizes to custom dimensions with optional aspect lock and format/quality controls; very large images are memory-bound.
Crop Image
Crop an image by dragging a frame over the part you want to keep. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image you want to crop.
- Drag across the picture to draw a frame around the part you want to keep — the rest of the image darkens as you drag.
- Drag inside the frame to move it, and pull a corner or an edge handle to resize it.
- Type exact numbers in X, Y, Width, and Height when you need a rectangle that is precise to the pixel.
- Run the crop and download the PNG.
Use cases
- Cutting a fixed region from a batch of same-sized scans.
- Trimming a header or footer strip off a set of page images.
- Extracting one frame from a screenshot for a smaller upload.
Limitation — Crops by dragging a frame over the picture, with corner and edge handles and a live preview; the selection is clamped to the image bounds, and a batch of images is cropped one at a time.
Remove EXIF Metadata
Strip GPS, device, and date metadata from photos in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose a JPEG, PNG, or HEIC photo.
- Review the metadata list to see what the file actually carries.
- Pick the output format and strip the metadata.
- Download the cleaned copy and keep the original somewhere safe.
Use cases
- Preparing photos of your home or workplace before posting them publicly.
- Stripping the device serial number from an image before listing it for sale.
- Checking what a shared photo reveals about where and when it was taken.
Limitation — Rewrites the file to drop metadata it recognises, which re-encodes the image and can reduce quality; fields written by other tools, and metadata embedded inside the pixel data itself, may survive.
BG Image Remover
Remove image backgrounds automatically with AI in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose a photo with a reasonably distinct subject and background.
- Run the removal and wait for the local model to load on the first run.
- Open "Refine result" and paint over anything the AI cut away or left behind.
- Download the transparent PNG and check the edges, especially around hair.
Use cases
- Cutting a product photo down to a clean transparent PNG for a listing.
- Preparing a portrait to sit on a coloured layout without a box around it.
- Making an icon out of a photo without tracing it by hand.
Limitation — Processes one image per run and does not provide batch processing. The refine brush edits the alpha mask by hand, so it only reveals pixels that are still in your original photo and does not re-run the AI on the corrected result.
Rotate Image
Rotate an image by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image to rotate.
- Enter the angle in degrees.
- Run the rotation and download the transparent PNG.
Use cases
- Straightening a photo taken slightly off level.
- Producing a tilted icon or watermark on a transparent background.
- Rotating a scanned page so its content lines up.
Limitation — Rotates by preset or any angle from -180 to 180 with a correct bounding box; output follows the chosen format.
Flip Image
Flip an image horizontally or vertically. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image you want to flip.
- Pick horizontal or vertical.
- Run the flip and download the PNG.
Use cases
- Correcting a photo that was scanned or shot from the wrong side.
- Mirroring an icon or logo to produce a facing-left variant.
- Flipping a sprite sheet for a game or animation.
Limitation — Flips horizontal, vertical, or both with format choice; output follows the selected format.
Blur Image
Apply a browser-based blur effect to an image. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image to blur.
- Move the slider to set the blur radius.
- Run it and download the PNG.
Use cases
- Softening a background so overlaid text stays readable.
- Blurring an image for a mockup or presentation slide.
- Reducing detail in a screenshot before sharing it publicly.
Limitation — Blurs the whole image with a 0–40 px slider; blurring only a region lives in the censor tab of the same editor.
Merge Images
Merge multiple images vertically or horizontally.
How to use it
- Choose two or more images; order them by the order you selected them.
- Pick a row or grid layout and, for grid, the column count.
- Run the merge and download the combined PNG.
Use cases
- Building a contact sheet of scanned pages.
- Putting screenshots side by side into a single comparison image.
- Assembling a set of icons or thumbnails into one preview.
Limitation — Combines images side by side or vertically without advanced collage spacing, per-image resizing, or grid controls.
Overlay Images
Overlay one image on another with opacity and position controls.
How to use it
- Choose the base image that sets the canvas size.
- Choose the image to place on top.
- Adjust the position until it sits where you want.
- Run the overlay and download the PNG.
Use cases
- Applying a logo watermark across a set of product photos.
- Building a mockup by placing an artwork file onto a background.
- Stamping a signature or date onto a document scan.
Limitation — Overlays two images with limited anchor positions, opacity, and no advanced blend modes.
Split Image
Split an image into equal vertical or horizontal parts.
How to use it
- Choose the image to divide.
- Enter how many parts you want.
- Pick the axis to cut along.
- Run the split and download the pieces.
Use cases
- Cutting a tall screenshot into scrollable segments.
- Dividing a panoramic photo into frames for a slideshow.
- Splitting a contact sheet back into individual pages.
Limitation — Splits an image into equal strips and does not provide custom crop boundaries.
Censor Image
Blur or pixelate a selected region of an image. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image.
- Drag across the picture to draw the region you want to cover — the rest of the image darkens as you drag.
- Drag inside the region to move it, and pull a corner or an edge handle to resize it.
- Set the block size; larger blocks hide more.
- Run it and download the redacted PNG.
Use cases
- Redacting an account number or licence plate before sharing a photo.
- Covering a face in a screenshot that is about to be posted publicly.
- Hiding a notification or message preview in a shared capture.
Limitation — Applies visual blur or pixelation; it is not irreversible solid redaction for sensitive data.
Round Corners
Round the corners of an image with a custom radius. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image.
- Set the corner radius in pixels.
- Run it and download the transparent PNG.
Use cases
- Preparing a profile image with rounded corners for a web app.
- Creating product tiles for a card-based layout.
- Generating an app icon with the platform's corner mask applied.
Limitation — Rounds image corners with a single radius and transparent output; batch and elliptical corners are not supported.
Add Watermark
Add a photo or text watermark to an image in your browser. Part of the Image Editor.
How to use it
- Choose the image you want to watermark.
- Select Text or Photo type, enter your text or pick a watermark image.
- Adjust opacity, size, and position — center, corners, or custom coordinates.
- Download the watermarked image and verify it looks right on a few backgrounds.
Use cases
- Branding photos before sharing on social media.
- Protecting draft images with a semi-transparent logo.
- Adding a copyright notice to portfolio pieces.
Limitation — Adds a visual overlay; it does not embed invisible metadata or copyright signatures, and the watermark becomes part of the pixel data.
Aspect Ratio Calculator
Calculate image/video dimensions and aspect ratio.
How to use it
- Enter the width and height of your image or video.
- Read the ratio, which is labelled when it matches a standard one.
- Enter a new width or height to get the matching value on the other side.
Use cases
- Choosing a crop that will not squash a portrait into a landscape frame.
- Working out the height that matches a target width for a banner.
- Checking whether an export preset matches the source before you upload it.
Limitation — Calculates a height from a new width for common ratios and does not provide every reverse-ratio mode.
All Loonix tools process your input in the browser: text you type and files you pick never leave your device. Anything downloaded from the internet — say the FFmpeg runtime — is a supporting binary, not your data.
