Logcat Filter
Filter pasted logcat output by level, tag, package, and regular expression.
Logcat Filter on Loonix helps you paste logcat output and filter it by level, tag, PID, or regular expression. Recognises threadtime, brief, and raw formats.
How to use
- Paste the logcat output you captured.
- Narrow by level and tag first, then add a PID or regex if needed.
- Copy the filtered text to share the exact lines that matter.
Features and limitations
- Recognises threadtime, brief, and raw, so pasted output from any capture command still parses.
- Filters by minimum level, tag substring, PID, message text, or a regular expression, combined as AND.
- Attaches headerless lines such as a stack trace to the entry above instead of discarding them.
- Reports an invalid regular expression and keeps the text visible rather than breaking the page.
Limitation: Filters pasted text only, not a live stream, and it does not resolve PID to a package name. A regex that matches nothing silently keeps every line instead of warning you.
Use cases
- Reduce a long capture to the errors when investigating a crash.
- Extract one app lines from a mixed system capture using its PID.
- Pull the stack trace out of a wall of log text before sharing it in a bug report.

Frequently asked questions
Usage, result, and limitation information for this tool.
- Which logcat formats are supported?
- threadtime, which is the Android default, plus brief and raw. You can paste mixed output and each line is still recognised.
- Why can I not filter by app name?
- Logcat output does not contain package names in those formats. It carries a PID, so that is what the filter uses. Get the PID from adb shell pidof your.package.
- What happens to stack trace lines?
- They carry no header, so they are attached to the entry above them instead of being dropped. Losing them would remove the most useful part of a crash.
- Is an invalid regex handled?
- Yes. The error is reported and the rest of the text is left unfiltered instead of the page breaking.
